Client Testimonials

“Going through my divorce was by far the most difficult experience in my young life. There is no way to sugar coat it. I will say however, that working with both Paula and Vicki helped ease the pain and got my former wife and I through it and to the other side more seamlessly than I had imagined. The powerful combination of their professional experience gave us comfort at a time when we needed it most.”
- A.C., Stamford

“I have had the opportunity to work with Vicki and Paula. Both are very professional and goal oriented, yet understanding and compassionate. Above all, they seek a path of fair compromise, trying to find middle ground solutions to settle often difficult dilemmas.”
- J.R., Easton

“My divorce was one of the most painful experiences of my life. Whether it is amicable, or even the right choice, it is still an emotionally draining time. There were so many times I was told by family and friends to use a lawyer and not go through mediation. Thank God I did not listen! Vicki and Paula played such a critical & paramount role in getting us through our divorce. They are professional, knowledgeable, kind, patient, and most of all, non-judgemental! They have probably seen and heard it all--and when emotions and disagreements hit an all time high--they manage to pull you back to the place where you can still be productive, and leave the room with your spirits and mindset in a better place then when you walked in. Most of all, the process leaves you with your dignity. Even in a friendly divorce, the process can leave you with much anger that can spiral out of control; but Paula and Vicki just know how to help manage you both through it. Not to mention the money you save! I would recommend them highly and whole heartedly!”

The Co-Mediation Model

The Divorce Team of Connecticut offers a divorcing couple the opportunity to work jointly with two mediators; one is an attorney and the other is a marriage and family therapist. Each of the two mediators brings special expertise to the process which enables the couple to best deal with the legal, financial and emotional issues of their divorce. The attorney guides the couple through the legal process of divorce and helps them navigate the various financial issues they will face. The therapist’s insight into family dynamics helps overcome emotional obstacles to the mediation process and provides information about the effect their decisions, especially parenting arrangements, will have on their children. Both Vicki Volper, a family law attorney, and Paula Levy, a marriage and family therapist, have extensive mediation training and experience.
